Shunshan Li, Chairman and President of NMS, Appointed Chairman of the First Council of Three Gorges University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association

To further build a platform for alumni entrepreneurs’ exchange and cooperation, promote resource sharing, activate the alumni economy, and contribute to the “Double First Class” construction of Three Gorges University, the first council meeting of the Three Gorges University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association and the first alumni business exchange event were successfully held in Nanchang, Jiangxi, on December 21. Weijun He, Party Secretary and President of the Alumni Association of Three Gorges University, and Cheng Zhang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, attended the event to provide guidance. Special guest Shunshan Li, Chairman and President of Nanchang Mineral Systems (NMS) and an outstanding alumni from the 1986 Mechanical Engineering program, was invited to attend the event.

The event centered around the theme of “Harnessing Alumni Economic Innovation to Promote the Development of New Productive Forces” and included four main sections: the inaugural meeting of the alumni entrepreneurs association, keynote speeches by distinguished guests, alumni entrepreneur exchanges, and alumni company visits. At the inaugural meeting, the Three Gorges University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association was formally established, and Shunshan Li was appointed as the first chairman of the association’s council, tasked with leading the alumni enterprises toward joint development.

Weijun He, Party Secretary and President of the Alumni Association of Three Gorges University, congratulated the newly elected council members and expressed deep gratitude to the alumni who have always supported their alma mater. He used extensive data and vivid examples to emphasize the importance of alumni work and the strategic considerations behind establishing the alumni entrepreneurs association. He also pointed out that the outstanding achievements of alumni are a vital measure of the quality of education at the university and that alumni and their alma mater are a mutually supportive, collaborative community. He shared the university’s achievements in cultivating talent for innovation and entrepreneurship, calling on alumni entrepreneurs to play a leading role by leveraging their resources to aid in talent cultivation and drive the development of new productive forces. He also encouraged alumni to contribute to the university’s goal of becoming a leading institution in hydraulic and power engineering and to contribute to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

In his speech, Shunshan Li saw the establishment of the association as a key step in the university’s journey toward becoming a top-tier institution. It reflects the university’s deep care and high expectations for the alumni entrepreneur community. He promised that the association would uphold the entrepreneurial spirit, wholeheartedly serve alumni entrepreneurs, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with alumni businesses to develop business strategies, sign cooperation agreements, chart a path forward, and embrace the university’s “seeking excellence” motto, bringing glory to the alma mater.

On the following morning, alumni visited NMS for a field study and exchange, with the aim of absorbing advanced management wisdom and technical expertise, enhancing the core competitiveness of their businesses, and jointly promoting the prosperity of the alumni business community.

Three Gorges University has been an important talent hub for NMS, cultivating many outstanding R&D and management talents, including Shunshan Li, who now plays a key role at the company. The establishment of the alumni entrepreneurs association has provided an opportunity to deepen collaboration and exchange with alumni entrepreneurs and further strengthen the close relationship between NMS and Three Gorges University in talent cultivation and university-enterprise cooperation. In the future, NMS will fully leverage this platform to work alongside Three Gorges University and alumni entrepreneurs, gathering talent and writing a new chapter in university-business cooperation. This will achieve resource sharing, mutual benefit, and contribute more to the sustainable development of the company, high-quality industry development, and societal stability.
