Recently, China Three Gorges Corporation has announced that as of 1:15pm, June 2, Xiluodu hydropower station, the world’s 4th largest one, has produced more than 500-billion kwh clean electricity, which is equivalent to about 152 million tons of standard coals and 416 million tons of carbon dioxide emission reduction.
It is known that Xiluodu hydropower station is the key project of power transmission from the west to the east in China. It is located in the Jinsha River Gorge at the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan. The project mainly focuses on power generation, with comprehensive benefits such as flood control, sediment detention and improvement of upstream navigation conditions, and can provide cascade compensation for downstream power stations. The hydropower station was officially started at the end of 2005, and all units were put into operation at the end of June 2014. Xiluodu Hydropower Station and Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges, Gezhouba and other cascade hydropower stations constitute the world’s largest clean energy corridor.
Different from ordinary dams, Xiluodu hydropower station is designed as a concrete double curvature arch dam with a maximum height of 285.5 meters. It is the world’s first ten million kilowatt high arch dam power station. During the construction, more than 60 sets of NMS equipment were applied in multiple aggregates processing systems of the hydropower station, mainly manufacturing fine sand and aggregates required in the concrete.
Due to the large scale and high difficulty of construction, Xiluodu hydropower station has become one of the most representative hydropower projects in the world. After completion, it has won numerous awards. In 2016, Xiluodu Hydropower Station project also won FIDIC Engineering Project Excellence Award, which is known as the Nobel Prize in international engineering consulting.
In the 1990s, NMS entered water conservancy and hydropower industry and won nearly 90% of the screening equipment market share of the Three Gorges Dam project. Its excellent product quality and professional service won a good reputation for the enterprise. Since then, NMS products have been successively applied in Xiangjiaba, Xiluodu, Baihetan, Wudongde and other domestic power stations, and have played a role in the construction of overseas water conservancy projects in Laos, Indonesia and other countries with the help of the Belt and Road. Among them, Baihetan hydropower station, the first batch of units put into operation in 2021, is the largest hydropower station under construction, with the largest single unit capacity and the second largest installed capacity in the world. NMS has more than 100 sets of equipment applied in its multiple aggregate processing systems.
